PoliticsPresidential Election 2012

The first round of the 2012 French Presidential Election was April 22nd - results and analysis (See stamped voting card, ballots and envelopes, polling booths, ballot box, voters waiting to vote and counting ballots) with the second round May 6th - results and analysis of what happends after the election (See ballots and envelopes, polling station and voters, stamped voting card, candidate posters and campaign flyers). To be in the first round of balloting candidates must have the signatures of 500 elected representatives, there are a total of 47,000. The top two vote finishers in the first round - François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy (Political Platform Campaign Office) went on to the second round. The candidate with the most votes in the second round - François Hollande (Political Platform Campaign Office) was elected president for a term of five years.
