PoliticsPresidential Election 2007

The first round of the French Presidential Election was April 22nd – see results. The second round was May 6th - see results. Nicolas Sarkozy was elected President, beating Ségolène Royal.

A limited number of polling stations have voting machines (machine à voter) for the election. This includes newer machines that came out in 2007. But there were some problems with new machines. Some had to be changed and replaced with the older ones.
