Mont Saint VincentRomanesque Church

The Romanesque church in Mont-Saint-Vincent was once a monastery and part of the Cluny network of churches. Its superior church was Paray-le-Monial.

The church in Mont-Saint Vincent has three naves and the side walls are supported by buttresses. The west side of the church has a porch with a stone carving of Christ above the door. On both sides of the door there are capitals.

The church was built between 1080 and 1120. In 1793 the church’s bell tower collapsed because of a structural flaw never to be rebuilt.

When I visited the church I was not able to go inside. I hope you will have better luck! The photos of Mont-Saint Vincent Church on Romanes.com show that the inside is luminous and well worth a visit.
