LouhansMarket

Since 1269

The Monday morning market in Louhans is divided into four sections, agricultural - specializing in Poulet de Bresse - Bresse Chicken, food/produce, organic and commercial.

The agricultural section is the highlight. It starts at the roundabout, near the war memorial and continues along Place de la Charité. Here you'll see dozens and dozens of chickens for sale, including Poulets de Bresse. The birds are easy to spot with their white feathers. The food/produce section is centered around Louhans's church Saint-Pierre and in front of the Hôtel de Ville - town hall. You can find WiFi at Café de l'Hôtel de Ville.

The commercial section of the market is the largest. Located on Grande rue, it runs through town. The organic area is the smallest, located in Salle de la Grenette on rue Grenette.

During market day it's advisable to park outside Louhans. There are six lots with free parking outlying the town center. There is inevitably heavy traffic in Louhans on Mondays, so if you're passing though the area and not into seeing the market, it's best to stay clear.
