Southern Burgundy Romanesque ChurchesLa Chapelle sous Brancion

The village of La Chapelle sous Brancion can be found in Southern Burgundy about 10 miles from the town of Tournus, just off the A6 Autoroute. The village is beneath a hill and overlooked by the Châteaux de Brancion. La Chapelle sous Brancion is a very small village and typically French in that it's church is surrounded by the village.
The church is the centerpiece of La Chapelle sous Brancion. The church was built during the 11th century and is characteristically a romanesque church in that its bell tower is over the cross. La Chapelle sous Brancion also has a lovely Lavoir, a public laundry.
In the mid 2000s murals were found in the church's apse.
