Eiffel TowerUnder Construction

Construction on the Eiffel Tower started on January 28th 1887 and finsihed at the end of March 1889. The Eiffel Tower opened to the public on May 6th 1889. Here are some photos of the Eiffel Tower at various stages of construction.

August 30th, 1887: Four legs going up with the Palais du Trocadéro in the background.

December 7th, 1887: All four legs almost built and scaffolding started to support building of first level

November 28th, 1888: Getting close to finished.

December 6th, 1888: Almost there, starting work on the top level.

December 26th, 1888: Continuing work on the top level.

1889: Not yet finished, Eiffel Tower from across the Seine.
