CorsicaCorte

These are some photos of Corte, the once capital of an independent Corsica. Corte is on the RN 193 road from Ajaccio to Bastia in the center of Corsica. You can also access Corte via the Corsican rail network.
Corte is built on a slope, encircled by mountains and at the bottom of two valleys Tavignanu and Restonica. Corte is the birth place of Joseph Bonaparte, the oldest of the Bonaparte brothers.
Corte is a town of about 6,000 habitants, with steep winding streets, old churches and the University of Corsica Pascal all being overlooked by a Citadel. There is also a Musée de la Corse near the tourist office. The tourist office is the starting point for a tourist train that is nice way to discover Corte.

This is looking up at the citadel in Corte.

This is Corte.

One of the many narrow streets in Corte.

This is the home where Joseph Bonaparte was born.

The markings on the wall of this building are from bullets fired during the Corsican Revolution for independence that took place during the middle of the 18th century.

This has to be the more colorful stores in Corsica

Another of the narrow streets in Corse.
