AutunCroix de la Libération (Liberation Cross)

On a hill overlooking Autun is the Croix de la Libération. Built to commemorate the liberation of Autun on September 10th 1944. Construction started one year later on September 10th 1945. The first stone was posed by a survivor of Dachau concentration camp. The cross was blessed in 1947 and inaugurated in 1948.

The cross is about a 10 minute drive from town. Exit Autun on the D120 road and then turn onto the D256. If you don't have time to drive up to the cross, there is a nice view of Autun on rue Paul Cazin off the D120, just after you exit Autun.
